"Don't worry, the two of them are with me" Mr. Raide said to a security guard, who obviously knew who Danny and Kasey were, and their relation to Marek, even without needing to look at their passes. But he s still seemed cautious as they walked down the main hall of the lab, past empty glass laboratories. as most of the Employees seemed to have left or just be leaving. To Danny, and Kasey everyone who was still here working seemed to be a little on edge. Not even the Lane or Raide children really had a clue what their parents were exactly working on together, and they weren't sure.
As they walked by Raide's office and toward the elevator Mr. Raide decided to break the somewhat awkward silence "I think you two will be really amazed by this, I think it's almost ready, I'd like you guys to help me test it out too, " Mr. Raide told them enthusiastically.
"What exactly is your big project dad?" Kasey asked. "You never really told me"
"Something life changing!" He began "I've harnessed a whole new source of energy, I was skeptical art first, But whit the help of Viper Tech, we could power this whole city from right here."
"and where exactly did you discover this energy?" Danny asked, hoping to not sound too uncertain about this. He knew that Kasey was probably thinking something similar.
"AH!" he replied "That Danny is the intriguing part, this only leads to a larger discovery" "life beyond this dimension!, what else can this energy do, what other elements can we discover? It's quite fascinating"
Kasey and Danny exchanged glances, due to the encounter with the ghosts earlier that week, they were a little confused and scared by the way Mr. Raide spoke, He really seemed fixated on whatever it was he wants to show them. The elevator down was quiet except for the chimes and whirring of the elevator itself. When they arrived in the basement level, nothing seemed to out of the ordinary, as they began walking the air of the room began to shift, and they came across the giant testing area which the basement was mostly used for. it looked completely different than any other part of the building, a huge wide open room, with almost an strange violet glow illuminating on one half emerging from a giant glowing portal, which seemed to be powering everything in the room. In addition to a large storage area for Lab equipment and VT property in another section. Danny and Kasey didn't like the weird ghastly feeling from the room which they'd just entered. The air in the room felt thinner, and it reminded them both of their unfortunate encounter with the "ghosts" earlier that week on Kasey's birthday.
"Um" Kasey gulped, somewhat remembering what it was she'd been helping her dad with "So you finally finished it, but what exactly does this thing do?"
"Well, It's sort of like a giant rechargeable battery, in this state it's a really good conductor, the portal brings this energy source here, and recycling it to keep a constant energy flow and it goes through the wires, powering up this room, we're still trying to see if it can be used and solidified, and what it's composition is but at least it's a start"
Danny still a little uneasy and unconvinced, due to his previous encounters with the ghosts spoke up "are you sure it will be safe?"
"Yes! Relax Danny, we're barely using any of the machines full power, we're wouldn't want to put anyone in danger, especially you two" he stares at them, and especially longingly at Kasey "I want to make it safe as possible, I care about you two and I can't have anything happen to anyone in this city." another pause "I just wish Mr. Lane would understand" he muttered quietly
The two teens felt a little better now, "Thanks for showing us". Danny said, kasey made an agreeing gesture as the trio headed to the elevator, through the now empty halls, and to Professor Raide's car. On the ride home the to friends couldn't stop thinking about what they saw, and their silent fears re-emerged, of course for the Kasey and Danny's recent paranormal experiences, their fears were real and understandable, and they both knew what each other were thinking.
