6:45- Jays family home
It was a bright and pleasant fall morning. Jason had just finished his breakfast of French toast, bacon, and an orange no longer than 15 minutes ago, and was in his room getting ready for his first day at Riverwood High School. He was wearing a burnt orange button-up shirt and khaki pants. His brown hair combed over to his right side. He was a little anxious, due to having just moving into Riverwood city only a few weeks ago, his family is from Fort Bravo in Colorado, so he wasn't really used to a big city, he'd kept to himself when he was there, as he and his older brother were some of the only "kids" on the base, not to say that he didn't pick up anything from his time on the base, he really enjoyed running and archery. He was a little confused and disappointed to have moved, his mom and dad had said its "to help give the family a fresh start" while his brother was enlisting soon and had stayed back in Colorado, and that "we want you to choose the future you want."
"Well I'll see today if this is what I want" He said to himself as he grabbed a small dart from a drawer and tossed it every so precisely to land a bullseye in the mechanical dartboard on the far wall of his room "we'll see" he repeated again seeming slightly more optimistic. The door closed effortlessly behind him, "Are you ready Jay?" His father called from the entryway
Yeah, I am," he replied, jogging toward the kitchen.
6:50-Lnne Manor
"Samuel, is that what you're going to wear? His mother condescendingly asked, as she stood her lavender robe in their large checkered floor dining room looking at the rolled up sleeves of his unbuttoned, faded black "VT" vest over a medium length navy blue button up which had a small snake insignia on the left side, along with some black dress-up pants mismatched with some steel toed shoes. "It's your first day of high school. Don't ruin that nice vest, button it up please!"
"Ugh, fine Mom" he replied, rolling his eyes slightly
"sleeves down" she said reaching down and gently tugging them to make them neater "Ah that's better" she said sweetly
"Thanks Mom!" he remarked a little sarcastically, knowing he'd probably won't keep up this appearance.
Sam's father walked in "Ah Sam, there you are. I wanted to say good morning before you left. You remind me of myself when I was younger. It won't be long till you're working with me, are you ready to go?"
"Yes I am" he remarked confidently
His father patted him on his back and his mother hugged him lovingly "Have a good day honey" she said as she let go of him
"I still wish he'd dress a little nicer" his mother remarked as looking at Her son's outfit as Sam made his way toward the door.
"let him be Emily"
7:40 Riverwood High school
'"Daniel Black?"
"Here"
"Vincent Baker?"
"Here"
"Ayla Cole"
"Here"
The Roll call continued as students arrived to Mr. Giron's Homeroom and 1st period English class, an average man in his 40s with black hair. Danny or Daniel, as was listed in the school roster system and school school-issued student ID. He had known most of his classmates the whole time he had been in the Riverwood public school district, and was tuning it out. However, today, on his first day of high school, he'd be surprised to see an unfamiliar face in his homeroom, sitting right next to him.
"Jason Jays" Mr. Giron called, and after waiting a few seconds, repeated, "Is there a Jason Jays-"
"Here" The kid declared. Unintentionally giving himself attention, no one really knew him. Some girls were whispering to each other in the back of the class as attendance continued, Jason could sorta hear them but paid no mind
"Who's he?"
"I don't know, I think he's new?"
Danny looked to his left and started to introduce himself to the burnt orange button-up shirt, khaki pants, and slick brown hair. He felt it was the right thing to do since he was sitting next to him. "Hey there, Jason, I'm Danny. Nice to meet you, you're new here, right? How long have you been in Riverwood?"
"Hey Danny, nice to meet you" he responded. "It's been a little less than a month, still wish I was back home, it's a lot different here than it was back at my home" sounding a little uninterested
"I understand, it's hard to adjust to something new isn't it, anyway, what's your schedule like, I wonder if we have any other classes together, also, if you want you can sit at our table, It's nice to meet you, hope we can get along" Reaching out his arm just a little for a fist bump, which was accepted
"Kasey Raide"
"Here!" a soft voice called. Danny looked back at the last row of desks, where he spotted his childhood friend Kasey sitting in the back left corner. They'd grown up together, and their parents were close friends. He gave a small wave, and she smiled back. She was a very nice girl. She was wearing a light white sweatshirt over a gray patterned T-shirt and a pair of jeans, her hair flowing down the side of her face in small wavy strands. She was excited to finally be in high school, wanting to "make the best of it" as her parents put it.
She was glad to see that Danny seemed to be doing pretty well. To her, it seemed like he was also excited and relieved for the school year to be starting. It was reassuring for her because Danny's father had very recently gone missing, which she knew was probably pretty hard on him.
11:59 Riverwood High School Cafeteria
Danny was on his way to the cafeteria from his locker, he'd just gotten out of his P.E. Class, which was sorta boring since it was the first day, no teachers were doing too much as the students were getting settled in for the new school year. Some of his friends were in the class, Kate Brea, A popular girl in the grade above him, who's father used to work as an executive at VT. As well as Adam Snow, Kasey's boyfriend, who was one of the top athletes on the schools XC and Track team.
As he was walking to the cafeteria, he once again spotted Jason. and decided to keep pace with him
"Hey there Jason, hows your first day going man, are you enjoying it here?"
"Pretty good, my first day's going well" he said seeming somewhat down.
"Y'know" Danny said picking up on his mood "You can sit with me at lunch if you want, I've got a couple friends who you could hang with, whaddaya say?"
"Sure!' Jason said as the two merged into the doorway of the extra crowded lunchroom, and headed to the lunchline the blue-gray walls, and long navy blue tables leaving little room for walking in through the crowds.
as they were heading from the line, Sam Lane decided to make a statement, intentionally shoving Jason and his tray, but not enough to knock him down to the floor
"Hey, new kid, do you think you're so tough being so quiet, and hanging out with Black?" reaching his hand to impact Jason's face, Vince Baker and a girl, who's name was Fallon, who had darker combed over hair and were behind Sam the girl with malicious smiles, though the girl, seemed a little concerned. Jason tilted his head to dodge and started to set his tray back down on a table
"you really wanna know?"
"guess you don't know who I am do you?"
"No, but-" Jason clenched his fist ready to lay a punch however was interjected by Danny. Danny was concerned about the outcome, since he'd been on the receiving end a few times, and Fallon started to inch closer to sam, both concerned about the aftermath.
"Sam, It's the first day of school, can you leave it alone"
"Fine" he remarked at Danny, walking away, gently tugged by Fallon "Let's go!" she snapped as the two parties dispersed in separate directions. Jason and Danny sat themselves down ina the middle table in the very back of the lunchroom, where Kate, Kasey, Adam Snow and some others were sitting, and welcoming the duo.
Kate started to introduce herself to Jason as Danny zoned out just a little, thinking about everything that'd been going on since his dad disappeared. He thought about everything from getting the dagers and being a superhero, to meeting Jason and dealing with Sam. High school's going to be a lot different than I expected he thought to himself.
