As Viper arrived at Raide labs, He noticed a VT truck leaving, along with his dads car, however there was still someone on guard at the front entrance, he'd have to be careful or he'd be found out. after the coast was clear hovered down to the entrance. He was met with a barrage if blasts from Nina Reyes who was unhappily on guard duty at the entrance.
"So You showed up too huh" She called
"Hey what's going on in there"
"Not sure, but everyone's leaving, I don't trust it, but I'm on guard duty, who exactly are you" Reyes responded pointing a blaster at Viper
"someone who's trying to figure out what VT's up to" he paused "You coming in here with me, sounds like somethings going on"
"Yeah, I never really trusted whatever Lane was doing here, It doesn't sound good in there, lets check it out" Reyes revealed to Viper, now figuring out who it was she was talking to
Not like I trust you any more than Mr. Lane, hopefully I can get some information from this guy
I don't think she's gonna let her guard down is she, better dip ASAP
"So did you build that armor yourself?"
"Yeah, I just built it out of those spare VT bots from that attack in august, wasn't that hard"
Interesting, he was working on it the same time we were moving stuff from the docks wasn't he how'd he know bout the warehouse
The battle was ramping up when the two arrived. Ghost King had basically srt the room ablaze and Silas was being overrun by the wraiths emerging from the portal
"I'LL HAVE TO FINISH THIS RIGHT NOW" Ghost king declared angrily, he was powering up a huge amount of energy a dark crimson glow with a violet tint. it was making Danny and Kasey very uneasy as they were the intended targets "I'LL GET RID OF YOU WITH THIS!!" he growled.
At that moment Danny felt himself pushed sideways and when he regained his composure, he realized it was Viper who'd pushed him, and noticed that this had given Kasey a chance to also find some cover
"Oh It's you" he remarked bitterly Why'd he do that he wondered "Thanks"
"Don't think this means I'm on your side Haze" he barked back "I don't know what's going on here but I'll distract him, you use those powers of yours to stop him so we can get outta here"
Danny nodded and Viper hovered over to the ghost king "Hey Big Red take this" and an orange blast of energy exploded right in Ghost King's face, it definitely had some effect. He then saw Kasey who was busy blasting gusts of wind at the creature that had taken her father's place. He was shocked to see Nina Reyes providing reinforcement to Stone the gray shadow figures surrounding him were starting to fade, as he delivered a blow straight through another one, Danny watched as it's ugly grey form faded away.
"Just in time!" Samson said, catching his breath
Danny suddenly had an idea, he felt as though he could feel power rushing from the daggers, and realized how many ghosts he'd slashed through to get to the Ghost King. They seem to be no trouble for my daggers, but they're not really touchable otherwise, do my daggers absorb the power? is that what I feel right now" He could feel them pulsing immensely in his trembling hands as he stood, with his back to the wall in the same spot Viper had pushed him, he started to get ur and was ready to jump
"ANYTIME HAZE!" Viper called, as thought it was his cue, and with that Danny Leaped up into the air UM what happened, I didn't know I could do that! gotta land! Noticing his distance from ghost king he focused all of his energy into his hands creating a purplish shroud of energy, and in an instant dove down and brought his hands down on ghost kings crown. This collision caused causing an explosion with an unbelievable force, shaking the whole building and forcing the ghosts back into their portal as it closed.
Ms. Joules and Marek Raide's real bodies could be seen again as they fell from their suspended place in midair, Danny caught Kasey's dad and landed safely on the ground, and Silas had ensured Ms. Joules was safe. at this point Viper snuck out, but not after surveying the aftermath of the encounter. "They're Unconscious, we need to get them out" Stone remarked. "Call an ambulance" The group could tell that the fight and the explosion had definitely caused some structural damage to the building. Kasey anxiety was starting to come back. This can't be happening, no, not dad!
"I've got to go". she blurted out, still breathing sort of heavy
"Be careful" Danny responded, she gave a small nod of understanding as she headed back to her father's office. He knew how traumatic, and stressful this must be for Kasey, He knew it was tough for him to deal with his dad's disappearance, he couldn't imagine what she's thinking right now. She probably feels responsible He thought she had to fight that ghost king guy and now her dad's going to the hospital. This didn't go well, I don't think I can do this. Anyway time to detransform.
Seeing that everyone else was accounted for, he decided to sneak away and return as "Danny Black" before anyone realized, and he knew Kasey would be looking for him. When he got to the front entrance, he could tell that the rain which had been going on and off had started again, pouring harder than ever, it was like he could feel the coldness even when he was still inside. When he walked outside he immediately saw Kasey standing by the curb, shivering in her jean jacket and black leggings, he walked over to her even though he was uncertain what she was gonna say.
"Hey" he whispered
"Oh, you're back, guess you stayed safe" She remarked coldly
"I'm sorry, I thought I'd be able to help them, but I- I should've stayed with you, what was I really going to do against"
"I don't think there was anything either of us could've done, besides, you got help didn't you" She said still a little annoyed that he'd left but was now thinking about her father. "I told my mom to meet me at the hospital, you don't need a ride or anything do you?"
"No" Danny said, He'd almost forgot he'd left his "bike" In the back lot "You gonna be okay,?"
"Yeah, I think so" Kasey said holding back tears as she saw the ambulance was about to pull up
"Hey calm down, You're dad's a tough guy, I'm sure he's gonna be fine." He paused "Talk to you tomorrow, let me know if there's something you wanna talk about" he finished as he saw her walk towards the ambulance to be with her father
"Ok." she mouthed
Danny got home at 6:10. His mom was working late shift as a nurse so he was home alone. Luckily he didn't have much homework. He heated up his dinner (He was really hungry), took a shower and got his homework done, It was just two pages of Geometry, A Worksheet for his World history class, and to continue reading The Odyssey for his English class. By the time he was in bed reading it was only 8:15, but he was tired so he wrote in his diary, said his prayers and ended up falling asleep pretty quickly. When his mom came home at 10 she was surprised to see him sleeping so quietly, but she noticed one single tear from his left eye and rubbed his hair for comfort, she knew something was wrong.
